Yes, I am right there with you Karl. I have scheduled a few days myself to hunt the forest grouse—love the FG. In fact, I have been out a bunch of times scouting and just running my dogs. I took my wife with me last time, and she wanted to solve the world’s problems and just talk in general. I thought it was distracting from just being in the aspens and cool temps, but I complied—ha ha. I am not sure how to solve the problem of waiting, but I am content just knowing it is this month.

I haven't been this excited for the season to start for a couple of years. I've been seeing a few real young broods here on the farm, so it looks like we had a fairly late hatch around here. There appears to be as much as 2 months age difference between broods. Sept. 1st and Montana can't come soon enough.

I'm hoping FG numbers are better than they have been the past two years.

It's going to be a smokin season...in Nevada! Can't wait. I'm excited too more than the last couple years, I believe I will have as much time (for a non-retired guy) as I want to hunt...crossing my fingers.

Kirklan, don't rub it in. Every year I hope to get to Montana in Sept. and every year it is something. This year it's the baby. Maybe next year. Karl if you have that much spare time maybe you can baby sit for me and Deb and let us go hunting.

The real one hun is back.

Ran the dogs for the last time before I get to carry a gun, we had a day of points and birds. The young are hard to tell from the older birds. One covey produced over fifteen birds. We counted over 35 all- together. Too bad I will be starting the opener in Idaho—but I hear good reports there too. I will attach some pictures of the day. Randy (hunting partner) has a new dog. He is the white pointer with an amazing nose—bright future for him.

Karl, saw quite a few of these guys yesterday. Only problem was that were all at 9500 feet!
