| Thanks Karl and fishnfowler. Oh yes, I'll be out there shoot'n holes in the sky, but mainly it'll be nice waking up to low humidity, watching the dogs in the back pasture digging for mice, and smelling the aspen groves all the while drinking a cup of coffee. Man, the simple things. |

Took a couple of trips this week. Shrthrcrzy. From what I've seen I think the Juntura and Owhyee (malheur county) areas are definitely an improvement over the last two years. I think it would be worth your time to make a trip. Contact me later and I'll give you Karl's gps readings. The gentleman from Tennessee. I took the drive in the area we discussed today. I didn't see as many huns and chukars as I would have liked but I didn't do much walking. Hot weather and I've come down with a case of laziness. On the positive side of that area, there were quail everywhere and if the quail did that well I'm pretty sure the huns and chukars did too. Get a hold of me when you are ready to come to Idaho. You're more than welcome to share camp with me and hunting spots. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm getting more opptimistic as the season nears. Larry |

Larry...I was wondering who stole my Gazetter with all my locations in it! ;O)
I stopped today while traveling and someone came up to me and asked if I hunt Chukar...must have been Aaron's AWESOME stickers and my full length back window UplandIdaho.com sticker that gave it away. But we started chatting and he was camping in one of my secret spots...very public but not hunted much and said he saw two adult birds with 20 chicks! I'm looking forward to the season to say the least. |

Awesome! Thanks Larry. lol
I'm still seeing qauil with lots of babies, either feathered out and flying with mom and dad, or little guys not able to fly yet. This looks like its going to be a humdinger. |

Back from Florida...thank God. Not only the oil, but the heat and humidity just about did us in. Coming across TX was eventful. Picked up my #6 headache (pointer female pup) in Abilene and was stopped by TX Hwy patrol twice within 35 minutes. Told the wife this was my last time going back and forth with the dogs and traveling 5K mile round trips. Changing duty stations every 2.5 to 3 yrs and the multiple hunting trips to MT for 15 yrs from the East coast...........I'm done.
Well on a different note, I ran the dogs yesterday morn for just under an hour and flushed two ruffs. Didn't even get to the honey hole. So I believe there will be a sufficient number of birds to make a hunt. The cover is mighty thick this yr. Today, me and the son hit the ATV's and had driven about 4 miles from the above spot and found some beautiful ruff country that I haven't seen before. Although you can find them about anywhere, it seems they are consistent in this area from yr to yr.
My neighbor and my hunting partner have been hearing and seeing some good numbers of quail, huns and Chukars...looks like we'll all be able to get a point or two and fire some lead thru the barrel this season. |

Thanks Cory!
Ran the dogs this AM for a few minutes and seen a covey of huns on the road...about 8 birds, full grown. Went to AF this afternoon to put my sons fuel tank back on his jeep and seen another covey in a neigbors yard of about 18-25 full grown birds.

| Saw large broods of half grown chukars between Oxbow Dam and Hell's Canyon Dam while fishing a few days ago. Heard lots of them too. Some hens had 10-14 young birds with them. |

situk, Looks like i'll be there. Dogs pointed a covey of sharpies behind the house near the creek yesterday and today. Also found a covey a huns about 15 or so on hill behind house. It's exciting to see this many birds just returning 5 days ago. |
