Goat, nice work and thanks for sharing an amazing hunt-experience. You found and harvested the Pink Unicorn.

If you don't already have a blog of some sort...you should consider starting one. Not only as your own electronic scrap-memory book, but with the different birds you've taken...folks like me, would check in to read the latest update in the Goat hunting adventures.

So which species is your favorite to hunt?
mearns quail by far, then gambels/scaled quail and chukar/huns

That snowcock weighed 3 1/4 lbs. I've read they vary from 3-10 lbs, so it was definitely a small one.

Hey Wingnut...I looked at the pictures you tried to post. In the name you have an apostrophy. You'll have to rename them without that and reload. Sorry.

This fellas advice was to pack in with a light bivy camp and plan on spending a couple of days up in there, mostly cuz your there already and its a great place to spend some time.. He said there's a chance to bump into birds anywhere you go but your best chance is to head for the top and find the roughest cliffs and shale slides you can find and just hang out on top glassing and listening for em.
Says thier quite vocal, then just try to get above em and wait em out for an ambush,, sounds more like an Elk hunt than a bird hunt..
He recommended leaving the dogs at home, although he's had some success with dogs along,, but they tend to spook alot more out of range with the dogs running around, and he told me about a couple of dogs that followed the birds over the cliffs.
He pointed out some places to go,, and if done the way he talked about you would be coming out heavier than going in..
Anybody want to hook up and head that way this fall im game..

I've talked about it and talked about it...I'll head in if I have the time off. Time off is a precious thing right now. I'm actually getting nervous because the vacation box that tallies my time off is so low.
